FFSC tackles suicide prevention

The Fleet and Family Support Center at NSB Kings Bay plans to offer a free Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training course every month throughout 2008. ASIST, a two-day suicide first aid interactive workshop for community caregivers, is available to all military and civilian personnel. More importantly, more service members are going to find themselves sent to the workshop as commands recognize the importance of dealing with the problem of suicide throughout the fleet. [ More ]

Kings Bay's GOVs vehicles are for official use only
Before you take that government vehicle to the beach and go surfing, ask yourself the question: is this for official use only? Many Sailors and Marines at Kings Bay have access to 455 government owned vehicles (GOV). These GOVs are not for personal use, they are transportation for military business needs only. However, the transportation hotline averages six to seven phone calls every three months on infractions and reports of GOV misuse.

ASF Academy keeps NSB Kings Bay combat ready
America has been continually updating and changing its security measures to prevent a terrorist attack for more than six years. The threat of terrorist attacks is even more serious for military bases. That's why commands are required to augment their security forces with an Auxiliary Security Force (ASF). So how does NSB Kings Bay manage to pull this off? Local commands provide the personnel needed to man the ASF on an on-call basis while dedicated Navy Master-at-Arms and security contractors provide the training at the NSB Kings Bay ASF Academy.
