Kings Bay hosts Weekend for Wildlife

Kings Bay's reputation for caring about the environment was on full display during the Weekend for Wildlife, an event dedicated to showing the community how the base cooperates with nature while completing its mission. Participants toured the base Feb. 9 to see how the Navy works in unity with nature, and the steps it takes to ensure the environment thrives. [ More ]

Kingsland honors Kings Bay paramedic
Every year, Kingsland recognizes a hard working selfless individual for their efforts over the past year. On Dec.11, 2007, Bob Nurmi was nominated as Paramedic of the Year for his zeal, hard work and dedication to the Kingsland Fire Department.

Save-a-Life Tour visits NSB Kings Bay
Through out the holiday season, the Navy had numerous warnings and training sessions for service members regarding drunk driving in response to the high number of DUI related deaths during the past few years. However, nothing drives it home as well as a hands-on experience provided through Edu-tainment, or education through entertainment. The Save-a-Life Tour paid Kings Bay its second annual visit to offer military members a chance to drive in the DUI simulator set up in the MWR Sports Complex Feb. 4 and 5.

MWR, Boys and Girls Club host after-school programs
Military children often face unusual challenges growing up such as moving and re-establishing friendships every few years to worrying about family members who have been deployed. Thankfully, NSB Kings Bay's Morale, Welfare and Recreation Youth Activities Center is here to help give them stability and a sense of belonging by providing affordable and beneficial childcare for children ages five through 18. Various programs have been developed in affiliation with the Boys and Girls Club of America to cater to the special needs and development of children.
