Kings Bay holds PPV townhall

Camden's Great American Cleanup is this Saturday
Individual volunteers and groups are still needed to pickup trash alongside area streets during Camden County's Great American Cleanup, which will be coordinated from Howard Peeples Park on Saturday [April 21] from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Naval Submarine base Kings Bay commands are slated to pickup trash alongside their designated adopt-a-highway segments through Friday. Base volunteers and family members are also encouraged to participate in the communitywide pickup Saturday.

USS Florida Sailors help daycare center
The Building Blocks Academy in Callahan, Fla. is an owner-operated daycare, trying to provide quality care in a small town. The center's owners, Dana Wheeler and Tanya Parkerson, wanted to add playground equipment to the yard, so the staff, children and parents held a bake and rummage sale to raise money toward the purchases of the new equipment. They were successful and new equipment arrived, but the ladies were having trouble getting the new items assembled. This is where ET1 Randy Zakrzewski stepped in. He had noticed the arrival of the new items but, after a week, had not seen them set up.

Program offers kids the chance to be firefighters
Firefighters have always been regarded as heroes. They save lives and protect property every day, always considering their job to be the most rewarding and best in the world. Kingsland Fire and Rescue is offering teenagers ages 14 to 18 the opportunity to experience first-hand the real life of a firefighter, its sacrifices and benefits with the help of the Firefighter Explorer Program.

MWR hosts KIDSFEST
Bubbles, snow cones and camel rides were just a few of the exciting activities at MWR's third annual "Kidsfest" April 14 at NSB Kings Bay.
