Kings Bay Sailors lend a helping hand

Six Sailors from Submarine Base Kings Bay Land Mobile lent a hand through hard work and sweat to a family in need. The six Sailors took time off from their arduous jobs and helped Habitat for Humanity April 16. [ More ]


USO to visit Kings Bay
Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay has invited the United Service Organizations (USO) to visit twice per month and provide its services to Sailors and Marines here. The USO strives to provide morale, welfare and recreation-type services to military members. Coordinating the Kings Bay visits will be Bob Ross, Naval Air Station Jacksonville USO center director.

George Scheer remembered during memorial service
More than 70 friends, family members and shipmates were on hand to show their respect and admiration for World War II Submarine Veteran and local Waycross patron George Scheer during his memorial service April 15. Scheer passed away April 9 at the age of 87.

Sailors clean up Camden
Fighting Dirty was this year's theme of Camden County's Great American Cleanup last week. Camden County residents along with commands from all over Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay participated in the clean up to help beautify the local community and show that they care about the environment.

Kings Bay honors submarine service
It was a night of celebration and remembrance for the hundreds of Sailors and guests who attended the 108th Enlisted and Officer Submarine Birthday Balls last weekend. The Officers' Submarine Birthday Ball, held April 18 at the Jacksonville Hyatt Regency, featured keynote speaker Commander, Submarine Group Trident Rear Adm. Tim Giardina. The Enlisted Submarine Birthday Ball had Commander, Naval Submarine Force Master Chief (SS) Jeff Garrison as its keynote speaker the following evening at the Jekyll Island Convention Center.
