Comics report for duty aboard Kings Bay
Hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and anecdotes lit up the night at Kings Bay Clubs May 3 during the annual Comics on Duty Tour. Four comedians traveled to Kings Bay to help Sailors, Marines, visitors, and government contractors enjoy some humor.


Kings Bay Seabee returns from Iraq
Individual Augmentee is quickly becoming a familiar term with not only Soldiers and Marines but also with Sailors. Navy officials estimate there are more than 10,000 Sailors in IA duty assignments all over the world and nearly half the 4,300 Sailors serving in Iraq are IAs. Although many IAs are performing duty on the front lines, which is not defined in their rate manual. One Sailor at Kings Bay accepted an IA assignment to get back to the job he is trained for , to provide health and comfort and boost morale for those fighting the war on terrorism.

Local firefighters battle wildfires
The continuing dry weather and additional strong winds are expected to inflame the major fires that have been burning in Georgia since a power line was struck by a falling tree more than three weeks ago. The largest fire in Georgia's history, known as the Sweat Farm Road Fire for its starting point, followed by the Big Turnaround Fire together have been responsible for the destruction of more than 100,000 acres of timber and vegetation, dozens of homes and the evacuation of more than 100 people.
