Fire department best in the Navy

Naval Fire and Emergency Services selected the NSB Kings Bay Fire Department as the best small fire department for 2006 May 20 and invited the department to participate in an awards ceremony and training conference in Atlanta August 23-24. This great news comes just weeks after eight members of the fire department saved the life of a civilian employee who fell 20 feet while working on a catwalk landing in a shop tower stairwell. TRF earns nomination
Providing superior support to the Trident submarine force and saving the Navy money at the same time were just a few of the factors that contributed to the Trident Refit Facility at NSB Kings Bay being nominated for The Secretary of Defense Maintenance Award.

Dolphin Scholarship winners announced
With rising college tuition costs, students are having a more difficult time affording higher education with every passing year. This financial strain includes the sons and daughters of the submarine force here at NSB Kings Bay as well as at other Navy installations. Fortunately, exceptional students with ties to the silent service have help readily available.

Asian Pacific Heritage Month
More than one hundred servicemembers and Department of Defense employees enjoyed food, fun and heritage dancing at the Asian Pacific Heritage Month Celebration at the NSB Kings Bay Chapel May 31. The United States has recognized May as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month since 1990.
