A Special Homecoming

Like most Americans, SW3 Jeffery Blackmon had a modest dream: build a house and make a comfortable life for his family. However, his dream was put on hold when life took a tragic turn on May 2, 2004, when a mortar attack in Iraq left five Seabees from the Jacksonville-based Naval Mobile Construction Battal-ion 14 reserve unit dead and Blackmon a quadriplegic. TRF rescues periscope from disrepair
The St. Marys Subma-rine Museum provides a great opportunity for those who visit our area to learn about the mission of NSB Kings Bay and the history of the silent service. And, within its walls, sits a working periscope, which is surely a prized possession of the museum.

Boomers find small surprises
Small surprises seem to pop up every weekend when the Boomers hit the water. Father's Day weekend at the Edwin Cuttino Memorial Long Course Open in Brunswick proved no different for the Camden swim club. New swimmer Mitchell Cross surprised everyone, including himself, by winning his heat in the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 42.13.
