COMMUNITY SERVICE: Pitching in pays off

In what could be described as an unprecedented occurrence, NSB Kings Bay has been named tops in three of the five annual Navy Community Service Flagship Awards. The most recent announcement came June 23 from the Chief of Naval Operations, adding Project Good Neighbor to the list of first-place honors already captured earlier this year by the base. Kings Bay was also honored with an honorable mention in the Environmental Stewardship Flagship a day earlier. [ More ]

School Physical Marathon returns July 19
Children everywhere dread the beginning of a new school year because it means goodbye to summer fun and hello to English papers and pop-quizzes. For parents, the new school year means shopping for clothes, supplies and making sure the kids are healthy enough to attend classes.

Program focused on family fitness a success
Stay Healthy, Stay Fit, Stay Navy'' is the motto for the Navy's MWR fitness program. The initial goal was to give Sailors and Marines the opportunity to stay physically active but the mission has changed slightly. The Navy is not just catering to the service member anymore but is now focusing on the entire Navy family.

NSSC hosts midshipmen for closer look at silent service
When midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy start to think about their careers, surface ship careers in supply, naval aviation or even a medical profession are among the most popular choices. Naval Submarine Support Command at Kings Bay is introducing some Annapolis students to what the silent service has to offer.
