Changes aim to reduce accidents

Traffic accidents are statistically one of the main reasons for Sailor casualties, so traffic safety on base is always a concern for Kings Bay officials. This is why diagonal parking spaces were painted at the Kings Bay Commissary and NEX parking lot and new speed humps and painted lines were added at both gates. [ More ]

Maryland Blue wins safety award
Commands throughout the Navy have wholeheartedly embraced the Operational Risk Management philosophy to help reduce mishaps and injuries on the job and at home. One local command took it a step further as they captured top honors in the Chief of Naval Operations 2005 Afloat Safety Award.

Lowdown on PPV
A town hall meeting was held at the base theater Aug. 10 to inform Navy Family Housing residents of changes they should anticipate with the Public Private Venture initiative expected in 2007. Many residents expressed concern about the effects of a private management company running housing, and how different issues would be handled with these changes in effect.
