Catfish Festival kicks off this weekend
Southern fried catfish prepared by new chief petty officers and a performance by the ''sexiest'' country music star in America are just a couple of the features on tap for the 24th annual Labor Day Catfish Festival to be held in Kingsland Sept. 2-4.

Kings Bay branch health clinic changes hours of operation
The Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay Branch Health Clinic changed its hours of operation earlier this month in an effort to streamline patient care. The decision to move the mandatory weekly training from Thursday morning to Friday noon extended the hours on Thursday and proved to be more efficient and accommodating for patients and staff alike. The clinic's new hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays and 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.

Trident Training Facility offers first-hand fire training to Kings Bay submariners
The cold dark steel of a Trident Class Submarine cavitates undetected hundreds of feet below the surface of an Arctic ice cap. A lone Sailor in the torpedo room stands watch, looking out for anything out of the ordinary. Without warning, a fire breaks out. The watchstander reports to command and control of the threat that could overtake the boat.
