Kings Bay cracks down

During a three-week period leading up to Labor Day Weekend NSB Kings Bay Security stopped approximately 1,800 cars at various sobriety checkpoints on base resulting in nine arrests for driving under the influence. A security official said the message that drinking and driving is not only illegal, it's deadly, was heard loud and clear, but there are still some concerns. [ More ]


Program helps Navy families become better, knowlegeable consumers
The Council of Better Business Bureaus recently partnered with military bases across the world to provide guidance to their command financial specialists. The program was created to enable them to teach servicemembers how to be knowledgeable and responsible consumers.

Kings Bay Housekeepers recognized
When a military servicemember transfers to NSB Kings Bay, chances are they have spent some time either at the Transient Visitor Quarters or the Navy Lodge. Both establishments have a good reputation for high quality housing and service. This reputation would not be possible without the hard work performed by the housekeepers and employees of both establishments.

Kings Bay celebrates K.B. Finnegan's opening
Sailors and Marines seeking an alternative to driving to Jacksonville for an evening of libation and fun are in luck as K. B. Finnegan's opened its doors this past week. To draw patrons in for the Sept. 14 grand opening, the authentic Irish pub offered free food and soda and charged $1 for popular beers on tap.

Prospective chiefs build community relations
Prospective chief petty officers from NSB Kings Bay and Camden County students showed their combined community spirit as they began construction on ''The House of Learning,'' the latest home construction project by the local Habitat for Humanity chapter. The money for the house was raised by various fund raising projects conducted at all levels of Camden County's schools.
