New regulation limits payday loans

A new federal regulation took effect Oct. 1 that prohibits creditors making payday loans, vehicle title loans and tax refund anticipation loans to active duty servicemembers and their dependents with annual percentage rates of more than 36 percent. [ More ]


New program available to chiefs seeking a degree
The Chief of Naval Operations released instruction NAVADMIN 263/04 Sept. 7 describing the Advanced Education Voucher (AEV) which gives E-7 through E-9 the opportunity to complete their baccalaureate and masters degrees more efficiently. According to the instruction, AEV will provide financial assistance to senior enlisted personnel to complete post-secondary, Navy-relevant degrees, covering 100 percent of tuition, books and related fees.

Kings Bay Security gets tough on traffic violations
The information has been put out. The laws are understood. Safety stand downs have been held to stress the importance of the issue. NSB Commanding Officer Capt. Wes Stevens has mentioned it at ceremonies. It is clear that the use of seatbelts can save lives. Some personnel at NSB Kings Bay have different views of this ongoing problem. Those who don't obey the law of wearing seatbelts while operating vehicles on and off base will have a dent in their wallet and will be in attendance at the next four hour defensive driving course (which is offered free of charge on base).
