Halloween safety tips

Every year, hundred of ghosts, goblins and superheroes go on the prowl in base housing and elsewhere in the community seeking goodies to fill their bags or buckets. To ensure the safety of these ''wanted'' intruders, Kings Bay Security will have extra patrol units out and about to ensure the night proceeds safely. [ More ]

Hero dog of the year receives award
A warm welcome home was provided to military working dog Rex and his handler MA1 Christopher Calloway after receiving the Hero Dog of the Year Award in St. Louis last week. The German Shepherd Club of America recognized Rex for his heroism during a six-month deployment to Afghanistan and for his role in the prevention of drug trafficking in the war-torn region.

Attention sportsman and outdoor enthusiasts
Hunting season is upon us, and there are hunters in the woods. Hunting aboard NSB Kings Bay is necessary to control the deer population, thus reducing the number of deer involved in vehicle accidents. NSB Kings Bay is an enclosed habitat. Hunting controls the deer population to prevent exceeding available food sources thus maintaining a healthy and productive herd.

Heroes are defined as people who possess abilities or characteristics far greater than that of a typical person, which enables the individual to perform some truly extraordinary deeds. When most people think of these people, firemen, policemen or even an ordinance mechanic from Lockheed Martin may come to mind.

Kings Bay is sthe place to play
Servicemembers brand new to Kings Bay don't always receive a guided tour of the liberty activities on base. Being new means having no friends for many. Fortunately, Morale, Welfare and Recreation along with NSB Kings Bay designers have provided a wide array of entertaining and recreational activities throughout the base.
