Rogers takes over Health Clinic

Cmdr. Cora Rogers relieved Lt. Cmdr. Richard McCarthy as commanding officer of the NSB Kings Bay Naval Branch Health Clinic during a ceremony held at the clinic Nov. 3. McCarthy, who headed the health clinic's administrative department, stepped in as the officer in charge due to the unexpected tasking of Cmdr. Gary Wertz in early September. [ More ]


Doors open to servicemembers for Thanksgiving
The holiday season is a time to celebrate with family and friends. This can be impossible for some Sailors and Marines who cannot afford the airfare home. For military members at NSB Kings Bay who are not traveling, a home-cooked meal still awaits you.

RV Park has fun for the entire family
The snowbirds are coming and Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay has a perfect place for them to roost. The Eagle Hammock RV Park is one of the biggest attractions for people who live in the northern states and vacation in the South to get away from the harsh winter weather.

Fire destroys Sailor's home; shipmates there to help rebuild
The smell of smoldering paper proved disastrous for an NSB Kings Bay Sailor as a fire destroyed his home Nov. 6. Ombudsman Janet Martinez sat at home with her children while her husband STSCS(SS) William Martinez was on patrol aboard the USS Wyoming (SSBN-742)(Gold) when she smelled burning paper, immediately suspecting a fire. After checking outside, she came back in and noticed smoke coming from behind her living room sofa.

Camben, Kings Bay honor nation's veterans
More than 100 NSB Kings Bay Sailors and various Camden County organizations participated in a seven-block march through downtown Kingsland Nov. 11 during this year's Camden County Veterans Day Parade.
