Your home away from home ...

The holiday season is the time of year to be together with family and friends. However, for some junior military members, the cost of flying or driving home is cost prohibitive and they are forced to spend the holidays alone. For single Sailors and Marines at Kings Bay, the Morale, Welfare and Recreation crew has some planned activities to raise spirits and keep them active and involved throughout the holiday season. Sailors Aweigh returns
During this time of high tempo deployments and individual augmentations, being a family member at home can be extremely stressful for an already stressful life. One way for families to spend some quality time together before, during, or after a deployment is through the Sailors Aweigh Program.

Vehicles are for official use only
For official use only is a phrase some Kings Bay Sailors and Marines have not grasped when it comes to using government vehicles. In the last few months, five reports have been made to the public works transportation office ''Hot Line'' involving base personnel using government vehicles in a non-official capacity.

NSB Kings Bay Sailors complete 50-mile race
A group of Kings Bay Sailors and friends took a vacation recently to the scenic Boonesboro, Md., but it wasn't the typical leaf-peeper or Civil War battlefield tour. They joined about 1,000 other ultra-marathon runners for the 44th Annual JFK 50-Mile Memorial Race, held Nov. 18.

Sailors bring holiday cheer to veterans
More than two dozen Kings Bay Sailors visited the Carl Vinson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dublin, Ga., December 5, to deliver grocery bags decorated by children from the Kings Bay Child Development Center, Crooked River Elementary School and Boys & Girls Club and filled with thoughtful gifts.
